UNO: The Classic Card Game
UNO was invented by Merle Robbins, a barber from Ohio, who wanted to create a fun version of the card game Crazy Eights for his family. In 1971, he invested $8,000 to produce 5,000 copies of the game. It was a hit locally, and eventually, Robbins sold the rights to a group of investors headed by Robert Tezak, who formed International Games Inc. In 1992, Mattel bought the rights, and uno online exploded into a global phenomenon.
Objective of the Game
The objective of UNO is simple: be the first player to get rid of all your cards. Points are scored based on the cards remaining in your opponents' hands. The first player to reach 500 points typically wins the game, although shorter versions can also be played.
The Deck
A standard UNO deck contains 108 cards, divided into four colors: red, blue, green, and yellow. Each color includes:
Number cards (0 to 9)
Action cards: Skip, Reverse, and Draw Two
Additionally, there are wild cards, including:
Wild: Choose a new color
Wild Draw Four: Choose a new color and make the next player draw four cards (only playable when you don’t have a matching color)
